Why does my skincare feel heavy and start pilling on my face?
This is mainly caused by clashing skincare combinations, applying too many layers, or having a thick buildup of dead skin cells. It can also happen when the powders and thickeners in your products conflict with each other. Additionally, applying products in the wrong order or having poor skin absorption can make the pilling even worse.
Why does sunscreen leave a white cast and feel greasy, causing breakouts? How should you apply it correctly?
A white cast is completely normal for high-SPF physical (mineral) sunscreens. Breakouts on oily skin are usually caused by a sunscreen film that’s too thick or using too much product. We recommend using a coin-sized amount, moisturizing beforehand, and avoiding sunscreens with overly heavy, occlusive formulas.
Why does lipstick make my lips dry and flaky, and accentuate lip lines? What common mistakes are you making?
Many people apply lipstick directly to bare lips, which worsens dryness and cracking if the lips are already dehydrated. To fix this, always exfoliate and apply a lip balm primer before your makeup. For matte lipsticks, apply thin layers and build up the color gradually. This simple routine will instantly improve lip lines and flakiness!
Why does my cosmetic product go bad and smell weird even though it’s still within the expiration date?
The expiration date printed on the packaging applies only to unopened products. Once opened, skincare and makeup should generally be used within 6 to 12 months. Additionally, storing products in direct sunlight or in hot, humid environments like bathrooms can accelerate the oxidation and spoilage of the ingredients.
What to do if improper use of makeup removers causes breakouts or stinging around the eyes?
Failing to fully emulsify cleansing oils, repeatedly rubbing the skin with makeup water, and not using dedicated removers for eye and lip makeup can all damage the skin barrier. You must remove makeup by zone, ensure thorough emulsification, and rinse completely with clean water afterward.
Heavy sweating in summer causes makeup to melt quickly. What’s the right way to set it?
Applying a thick layer of loose powder all at once can easily lead to a cakey look and creasing. The correct method is to spot-set right after your liquid foundation, touch up oily areas later, and finish with a setting spray.
